Background |
The Madison Animal Clinic (and Pet Shop) is owned and operated by Dr. Joy Barron. This is a family business founded by her late father Dr. John Wilson Petscher (October 26, 1945 in Cincinnati, Ohio - February 27, 2011 in Madison, Indiana). John was a U.S. Army Veteran (enlisted in 1968), married his wife Janis in 1968, graduated with his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine ("large and small animal") from Purdue University in 1977, and later founded the Madison Animal Clinic in 1980. John was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church, had previously served as president of the Madison Area Chamber of Commerce, president of the Salvation Army Board, on the Boy Scouts Council, past president of the E. O. Muncie PTO and as a board member of the Animal Shelter. A hallmark of the Boy Scouts of America, is the granting of great expectations and the development of courage to pursue achievements. I think it is safe to say, John met and exceeded all his Boy Scout leader's expectations as an exemplar to the community. Following in their father's foot steps, for his memorial, the family requested contributions be made to the Salvation Army, the Christian Veterinary Mission, Heifer, International, or the Jefferson County Animal Shelter (source, lytlefuneralchapel.org). Memorial video available here. John, thank you for your service and may the rest of us do so well. |
